Inner Baller
When ESPN was launching its new original series featuring Caitlin Clark, Kiki Rice and Kamilla Cardoso, it was looking for a way to deepen the connection to each athlete’s personal perspective.
“Inner Baller” for ESPN and client State Farm, in partnership with ESPN Creative Works, features rising WNBA stars Caitlin Clark, Kamilla Cordoso, and Kiki Rice as they prepare to lead their teams to national championships, and documents the pivotal roles they play in women’s basketball.
The three promos, produced by Zambezi’s FIN Studios, aired during the ESPN+ Original Series Full Court Press and were shot to feel like an extension of the docu-series itself. The three films are told from the perspective of each athlete’s younger self that still exists as a source of strength within when facing the intense pressure that comes with shattering barriers and breaking records.
As with the Full Court Press docu-series, the films create a much needed platform for these extraordinary athletes and tell a human and universal story meant to inspire the next generation of women athletes.
